Evening on the Ganges: Featuring Kasturi Bandopadhyay (vocalist) and Supratik Sengupta (sitar)


Sacred Arts Research invites you to an intimate gathering celebrating the rich tradition of Indian Classical Music. 

Immerse yourself in the atmosphere resonant of the days of court musicians performing for royalty in Indian palaces. Our concerts are intimate, giving the audience and musicians an opportunity to connect, ask questions and speak to the inspiration and history of the music being shared. Enjoy the deep meditation that only classical Indian raga can bring! 

On July 26th we will have a Vocal, Sitar and Tabla concert featuring:

  • Kasturi Bandopadhyay -Vocals

  • Supratik Sengupta - Sitar

  • Monir Hossain - Tabla


This event is a $20 suggested donation. All funds go to support the musicians and future programing at SARF. No one will be turned away for lack of funds and we appreciate your support!

Kasturi born in a highly enriched family is the Daughter Of Internationally Renowned Tabla Maestro Pt.Ananda Gopal Bandopadhyay of Benaras Gharana.She was initiated into music by her mother Smt.Rekha Bandopadhyay at the age of four.After that she started taking talim from Vidushi.Smt Subhra Guha.She was also fortunate enough to receive talim for a couple of years under Legendary Guru Pt.K.G.Ginde.Since her childhood she is under the guidance Of Pt.Arun Bhaduri in Khayal and she was also receiving  talim in Semi-Classical from Late Vidushi Smt.Purnima Choudhury.And during her scholarship in ITC Sangeet Research Academy from the year 2009 she has also learned Semi-Classical from Late Padmavibhushan Vidushi Smt.Girija Devi too..


From her early childhood it has been noticed that Kasturi is highly talented and has an excellent sense in music and Laya. Gifted with a flexible and melodious voice she has charmed audiences wherever she has performed.She has Prooven her Versatility both in Khayal,Thumri,Dadra,Bhajan and also in Light Music.


Kasturi has performed infront of Great Legendaries and Exponents  of Hindusthani Classical Music.To name a few such as Late Pt.Kishan Maharaj,Ustad Zakir Hussain,Late Ustad Sultan Khan,Late Pt.Bhimsen Joshi,Ustad Rashid Khan,Pt.Ajoy Chakraborty,Dr.L.Subramanium,Smt.Kavita Krishnamurthy ji..And she got loads and loads of blessings from them.Kasturi always keeps an eye on the  Purity of Raaga,as she learned from her Gurus and develops the Gayaki in a decent way.Especially she excels in Thumri,Dadra and in the other forms of Upa-shastriya Sangeet.




Supratik Sen Gupta born in the year 1981 in a family of musicians in Kolkata. He got his early training from his father Sri Kuber Sen Gupta. He began his formal training under Sri Biswanath Das and Pt. Debaprasad Chakraborty. After that he was under the guidance of Sangeetacharya Late Ajoy Sinha Roy and Dr. Pradeep Chakraborty for a long time. Supratik joined ITC Sangeet Research Academy in the year 2001 as scholar under the tutelage of Padmabhushan Pandit Buddhadeb Das Gupta and Partha Pratim Chatterjee, the Guru of the instrumental division of the Academy. After leaving ITC SRA as a musician scholar he is now taking lessons from Padmabhushan Pandit Buddhadeb Das Gupta..he is taking lessons of tal-laya from sri Surojit sengupta(a senior disciple of padmabibhushan pandit Kishen Maharaj)
