This shamanic sound meditation ceremony will incorporate indigenous elements, musical instruments, and songs from shamanic cultures across the world including didgeridoo, Tuvan throat singing, South American Icaros, Native American medicine songs and flutes, jawharps, Koshi chimes, Tibetan singing bowls, Arican kalimba, ngoni, and Hang Drum all combined and layered through a electronic loop station interface while various healing herbs and incenses are burned.
The meditation will begin with a guided instruction while teachings from various traditions from all over the world (Buddhist, Taoist, Shamanic, Hindu and indigenous) will be given interwoven with the music and sounds.
Teacher Bio: Jerry Walsh has been a student of the dharma for the past eight years and a vipassana meditator nearly six years. Jerry has also been a student of Maestro Manuel Rufino for four years, studying the sacred traditions of humanity focusing primarily on the shamanic traditions of the Indigenous cultures of the Americas. He is a member of the Golden Drum sound meditation ensemble, Dream Seed, and has traveled to over twenty-five different countries on five continents, spending a full year studying Buddhism and Himalayan culture in India, Nepal, and Bhutan from 2010-2011. He currently works with BEAT NYC, a non-profit that teaches Hip-Hop and Beatboxing in NYC public schools. He is a founding member of the Sacred Arts Research Foundation 501 (c) 3 and the Ark in Greenpoint, Brooklyn where he resides with the Golden Drum community.
Jerry is a musician, vocalist, and beatboxer mixing ancient instruments and techniques such as the didgeridoo, Peruvian pan flute, Native American Flute, hang drum (handpan), and Tuvan throat singing with experimental hip-hop rhythms and lyrics revolving around mysticism and social activism. He has performed and taught at Sonic Bloom Festival, Gratitude Festival, Mysteryland Festival in Chile, Unifier Festival, Alex Grey's Chapel of Sacred Mirrors, and Cosmic Convergence Festival in Guatemala performing solo and in collaboration with Merkaba (Kalya Scintilla) and Srikalogy. He was recently filmed performing original music with the Hang drum for the critically-acclaimed Netflix series, Orange is the New Black.
Ixchel Prisma is a vocalist, song writer, and sound healer who brings the medicine of beauty and vibrancy through her music. Subtle electronic sounds and acoustic instrumentals are blended together with uplifting lyrics, wide ranging vocals, and poetry, submerging listeners into a full spectrum experience. In addition to writing her own material, Ixchel has also been studying and singing sacred healing songs from many indigenous cultures for many years. The intention of her music is to facilitate opening through movement in combination with the medicine of prayer, intention and sound. She has been performing since childhood, and studying indigenous music culture and sound healing for 5 years. Ixchel has performed at West Coast transformational festivals, local events, and private shows for the over 6 years. She is currently in collaboration with several influential music producers and musicians, including Desert Dwellers, Shaman's Dream, Dream Seed, and Jerry Walsh. Her offerings vary from acoustic performance, sound healing, song circles, and live electronic fusion dance sets.
